VWO is a modular CRO suite that has grown into a platform: Testing (client-side A/B, split-URL, and multivariate with a visual editor), Insights (session recordings, heatmaps, funnels, form analytics), Feature Experimentation for server-side flags and experiments, plus Personalize, Web Rollouts for developer-free changes, Plan for program management, a Data360 CDP layer, and Wandz AI. Each is a separately priced module, so the diagnostic-and-testing loop lives in one account — but so does the line-item creep.
Results run through SmartStats, a Bayesian sequential engine. It reports probability-to-beat-baseline rather than p-values, declares results at a 95% probability threshold, and explicitly auto-adjusts for peeking and multiple comparisons, so checking reports mid-test is not penalized. It also computes potential loss for underperforming variations and uses a region of practical equivalence (ROPE) so trivial differences don’t get called winners; statistical power and false-positive rates are configurable per campaign.
Implementation is the usual two-track split. Client-side testing runs off an async snippet, with a documented proxy/first-party endpoint option to reduce ad-blocker loss. Server-side goes through SDKs for Go, Java, JavaScript, .NET, Node.js, PHP, Python, and Ruby, plus Android, iOS, React Native, Cordova, and Flutter on mobile. A versioned REST API covers campaign and feature-flag management across workspaces and environments, metric reports, and offline conversion uploads — enough to script experiment lifecycle from CI if you want to. Note the docs actually live at developers.wingify.com (developers.vwo.com redirects there).
Pricing is the main diligence item. The former free Starter plan is gone; entry is a 30-day trial and then quote-based Growth/Pro/Enterprise tiers priced per product on usage — testing consumes a visitor quota as visitors enter experiments, and tiers cap events stored per monthly active user. Model your traffic and module count before committing, because stacking Testing + Insights + Feature Experimentation meters each separately. Integration coverage is broad: GA4, Adobe Analytics, Amplitude, Mixpanel, and Heap on analytics; Segment, RudderStack, Tealium, and mParticle for data routing; BigQuery, Snowflake, S3, and GCS for warehouse export.
Use it when a marketing or CRO team (or agency) wants visual-editor testing plus built-in behavioral diagnostics in one vendor at mid-market cost. Look past it when experimentation is engineering-led and warehouse-native analysis matters more than a visual editor, or when stacked per-product usage fees would exceed an open-source alternative like GrowthBook or PostHog.
